About us:

We are Christians

We are followers of Jesus Christ.          He fulfilled prophecy, proclaimed the kingdom of God, performed miracles to show he is the Son of God, taught us how to pray to the Father, died on the cross to atone for our sins, rose again in victory over death, ascended to heaven to take his place on the throne of the universe, and will return again to judge the living and dead. He is our Lord and Saviour, Rock and Redeemer, Shepherd and King - and we know him by His Spirit.

We share the transforming gospel priorities of the New Testament church when the people believed the good news of salvation and repented of sin: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer" (Acts 2:42)

We are Anglicans

We are members of the Church of England which has borne witness to Christian truth in the Thirty-Nine Articles, the Book of Common Prayer, and the Ordinal. The Articles are a treasure of the Protestant Reformation with their teaching on God and Scripture (numbers 1-8), Faith and Works (9-18), Church and Sacraments (19-31), Discipline and Witness (32-39)

We serve the parish of St Mark's. This is part of the Deanery of Battle and Bexhill which, in turn, is part of the Diocese of Chichester.  As part of the worldwide Anglican Communion we rejoice in the growth of the church (so strong in the developing world) and stand with believers who suffer for their faith today.

We are Faithful

The Parochial Church Council has:

  • endorsed the Jerusalem Statement 2008 (on affirming faith as a missionary and global church);
  • approved the affirmations of the Evangelical Alliance in 2014 entitled 'Biblical and Pastoral Responses to Homosexuality' (on lifestyle in a confused world); and
  • sought arrangements under the House of Bishops' Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests (on male headship, the view that the ministries of men and women are equal in value but complementary and not identical) in 2017, recognising its Five Guiding Principles for mutual flourishing.

  • We are a partner church of the Church Society.
